I COMMUNICATE CLEARLY MAKING EFFECTIVE CONNECTIONS WITH OTHERS

Background
It is the mark of an educated mind to be able to entertain a thought without accepting it.
Aristotle
Hello Reader!
I entered graduate studies after a thirty-year lapse from an undergraduate degree in Economics from Oregon State University in 1992. Upon graduation, I worked at Nike, Inc., World Headquarters, based in Beaverton, Oregon as a National Consumer Authorization Representative. After three years, I moved on to work for Portland Community College’s Office of Business & Government Relations as a Coordinator and Area Director of Specialized Management Training for twenty years with two sabbaticals.
Since 2015, I operate a private consulting practice in alcohol recovery as a certified Peer Wellness Specialist and provide pet bereavement counseling services HonoredCat Bereavement Care while publishing a zine named Genuine Recovery Mental Digest.
After visiting Grand Canyon University (GCU) in Phoenix, AZ, January 2022, I was impressed with the faculty, campus, and compelled with the idea of earning a graduate online Masters of Science Degree in Mental Health Wellness at a private Christian school. I am always eager to learn about professional integration and best practices to enhance my empirical philosophical foundation.
I look forward to sharing with all of you today and beyond my thoughts, experience, and expertise in mental health wellness, sobriety, and bereavement.
Character Ethos
Martin is interdependent, on a spiritual path of RELATIONSHIPS, freedom, acceptance and trust, all guided by faith.
He has a balanced relationship with self and respects time well. He possesses the unique ability to abstractly re-present ideas, then maneuver the abstraction to communicate with clarity.
Martin is Spiritual. Transparent. Lucid. Highly acute. Intuitive. Stable. Multifaceted. Rational. Reasonable. Educated. Devoted. Contemplative. Committed.
Martin is an intellectual, spatial thinker. Works best alone or small groups. Gravitates to help people who need help. Focused on what’s right, real and true. Empathetic, yet very little sympathy for prolonged voluntary victim mentality. He’s congenial and empathetic. MBTI: INTJ.
My Story
I am thankful, humbled and enriched in every way by grace – with all kinds of speech and practical knowledge. These spiritual gifts of knowledge, wisdom and intelligence were innately given. Cultivated from training, experience and self discovery.
Using these three things wisely, my life and possibly yours will shift for the better.
Being both street wise and book smart; is where my instincts in life have assisted my journey of adapting to the different circumstances around me, getting around them, then using my talents for personal and spiritual growth.
Genuine Recovery is the on going culmination of personal lived experience to help those with the dual diagnosis of mental health issues and the disease of alcoholism.
Like countless many, I adapted with alcohol for years and saw no significant consequences for decades until January of 2015. I surrendered to the grips of the disease through faith, abstinence, the fellowship of AA, and a supportive family. With a daily determination, dedication and commitment, I am recovered, based on the faith and trust in the decision placed on my heart (psychic shift).
Recovery is a process of finding the truth, the real self, which is in you. SobrietyMind is not only abstaining, rather living intelligent, considerate and kind without the dependence of a substance to change the rhythm of a clear conscious. It’s true soundness of mind.
My story, like yours, is continually evolving. Through writing, consulting, mentoring and focused attention to live [one day in time] and appreciate life as best I can with the opportunities presented before me; the experience of life is now more vivid, clear and hopeful.
The pull of the future is greater than the drag of the past. With a joyful innate devotion to God, the future is an unknown, exciting adventure of honoring God to become an expression of the infinite potentiality.
I am here out of truth, kindness, love, gentleness and acknowledging God responsibly in integrity.
The following, is a brief “parenthesis in time” of some past work experiences and skills which introduce me to you.
What I can Do:
• Create mutual cooperation.
• Focused driven on responsible solutions.
• Responsible, respectful and exude warm listening.
• Claircognizance, an intuitive ability to absorb and reflect other peoples emotions into clear knowingness honoring perspectives.
• Set boundaries to reduce stress.
• Teach “How To Ask” and listen with humility.
